International Students visit West Point

100_1195

The Franciscan Sisters hosted two international students from Creighton University on November 20.  These women are part of a group that was touring the various businesses and sights in West Point, Nebraska.  The Sisters had a most interesting visit with Hiroko, a Japanese student studying English as a second language and Julia, a Chinese teacher who also teaches English in China.  Both women seemed to enjoy learning about the Franciscan Sisters and the Sisters gained a better understanding of their unique cultures.

All Saints Day Brunch for Our Benefactors

The Franciscan Sisters hosted an All Saints Day brunch for some of  their benefactors. Vegetables and fruits fill the freezer of the Sisters because their benefactors have been so generous to them since their arrival in late July.  The people of West Point enjoy sharing their produce with the Sisters.  They brought gifts of vegetables, jams and homemade soap when they came for the brunch in their honor.  The Sisters are blessed to live in West Point with so many magnanimous people!

Trick-or-Treating at St. Francis Convent

The Franciscan Sisters enjoyed treating the numerous Trick-or-Treaters who visited their convent home on Halloween evening.  Nearly 50 different Halloween characters arrived at their porch to the sound of eerie music and jack-o-lanterns glimmering in the darkness. Each beggar was given a bag of popcorn kernals as they were greeted by the Sisters. It was a most enjoyable evening of musing at the various costumes and watching the children smile as they received their treats.
